Set up Twitter SMS for your phone
Just a quick walk through on how to set up your mobile phone to be able to receive updates or send messages to Twitter from it.
Step 1: Login At Twitter
http://www.twitter.com
Step 2: Twitter Settings
Step 3: Set Up Your Device
Go to the devices tab and input your mobile phone number and check the box saying it’s ok for Twitter to send text messages.
Once you have done the above step you will need to turn the device updates on and set some parameters if you wish.
Step 4: Set Up SMS For Who You Want Updates From
Click on following on your Twitter home page.
Then find the person you want to receive SMS updates from and flag device updates to on. If you no longer want SMS updates from this person you can flag them off here as well.
Step 4: Let The SMS Begin!
Now your set up and should receive SMS updates whenever one of your friends that you are following and flagged to receive updates from posts something to Twitter. There is also a complete list of SMS functions that dizzysoft.com has compiled to show you how to use SMS and Twitter. You can do almost everything you would normally want to on Twitter right from your phone. I created a contact in my phone named “Twitter Updates” so I know who my messages are coming from and so I can quickly send a message also.
Heads Up
When I first set my device settings up I was able to see the feature to have device updates from who I was following and had the ability to change them as needed. After a few days it seemed to have disappeared for no reason. This is a known issue with Twitter (one I hope they fix soon) and if you have that same issue, or if you set up SMS updates and don’t see the ability to do device updates right off the bat, contact Twitter support and let them know. They fixed my issue in less than 24hrs and now I am golden!
