Read Receipt in Outlook 2003

I got a question the other day asking “How do I do a read receipt request in Outlook?”. So here is how you do it.

Step 1:
Click on Tools then Click Options.

Step 2:
Under the preferences tab, click E-mail Options…

Step 3:
In E-mail Options click the Tracking Options button.

Step 4:
Look at the highlighted section in this image. There are two options. First for a read receipt and second for a delivery receipt. The read receipt will automatically ask the person reading the e-mail to send a confirmation receipt that they have read your e-mail. The delivery receipt will automatically get sent to you once the e-mail has been delivered to their inbox. Both options can be checked, however please note that just because you received a delivery receipt, it does NOT mean that they have read the e-mail.

That does it for the read and delivery receipts. You can now apply the changes and exit out of the open option screens.
